Self-Advocacy in the Workplace

In February 2024, the American School for the Deaf (ASD) collaborated with Hear Here Hartford to host a self-advocacy event focusing on the rights of deaf, hard of hearing and DeafBlind employees under the ADA for reasonable accommodations in the workplace. Disability Rights Attorney Marc Anthony Gallucci was our keynote presenter and organized various skits to demonstrate the real issues that employees with hearing loss face at work. This event, which was held at The Bushnell, was attended by more than 70 people and was made possible by ASD’s ARPA grant from the CT Department of Aging & Disability Services.
